I wanted to let everyone know that if you are trying to get in contact with anyone in Ky viva their "Cell Phone" and can't get through it's because there is a major outage due to a number of cell towers that aren't working. It's effecting more then one cell phone company. The news is stating that it's At&T, but my T-mobile isn't working as well.

I am lucky that I have power, but my next door neighbor is the eletric company. I couldn't sleep last night. If you have never been in an ice storm, it make you crazy laying there listening to the trees snap and the sky light up with the blue flashes of the powerlines coming down.

Yes, my daughter is in Louisville, KY, and I couldn't reach her cell phone all day...don't know if it was due to the ice or she just didn't hear it.
I finally reached her, and she said it's not too bad there right now and they do have electricity. Other parts of KY not doing so well.
I'm in WV, and the storm is running along the I64 corridor, and we are getting freezing rain off and on.
We've been off school now for two days, and I'm thinking they'll cancel school tomorrow also.

Hope you are okay, MontyGirl.
Patty

Update: I just went out to clean off my car since it appeared to be forming a crust of ice over several inches of snow, and it was! What a job to get that removed just from my windshield! That's all I was good for, though my neighbor was out shoveling the heavy stuff.

if you must go out in icy weather they said on the news to carry water, blanket, food, flashlights. candles's wouldn't hurt either. this kind of weather is very treacherous, especially for people like us in texas where we do not have enough ice to actually learn how to do handle these conditions. be safe, please. you are all important to us here on pc.com!!!

Hello from another one in an ice storm. I am in Arkansas and we are under at least 2 inches of ice. I am one of the lucky ones with power. My parents also have power and have been told by them that if I lose power that me and Tyger can come out there because they have a fireplace and it is ducted throughout the house so we would stay warm. I hope it doesn't come down to that. I figure if I still have power I should be ok. Tomorrow it is "supposed" to warm up a bit and so hopefully it is able to.

Mine started as snow and I was so happy because we haven't had much snow all year only ice but it's being freezing rain for about 7 and a half hours now, I hope it goes back to snow soon I am not sure that I am ready to deal with not having my computer if the electricity goes out. Of course I have bookshelves full of books that I could begin to conquer, LOL.

I hope everyone stays safe in this storm. What a monster it is and causing such heartache. Here in NH they are calling for about 16" of snow in my area....great....just what I need, something more to shovel LOL.

Take care everyone and stay warm!

It finally stopped snowing and the freezing rain stopped around midnight here and the sun is shining. Maybe things can start to thaw out now. Of course it is still in the 20's today but tomorrow they are saying it is supposed to be in the 40's. So maybe it will start to get better. I tried to uncoat my car of ice and decided that I won't do that unless I have to go somewhere which I don't have do until tomorrow unless they close my therapy clinic again. The city where my therapy clinic in most of the city is without power so they may be without power I'm not sure. I hope I am able to get out and go somewhere as I am starting to get cabin fever. I did get out and walk to the mailbox just to find out all I had was an advertisement but it was good to get outside anyway.

It has actually stopped snowing and/or raining here. I don't know what the weather report says for this evening here in WV. I just know I'm having a bit of "cabin fever." I usually enjoy the "snow days" off from teaching, but now just wanting to return to normal. I suspect we'll be off work again tomorrow.
