Do you have any smells that you find comforting?
Yeah, it's kind of a weird question, I know

For me it's the smell of rain on pavement or dirt
And also that basement smell ...don't ask why I love it so because I have no idea I guess I'm just weird?

As for...normal smells that most people find comforting:
Sweet smells like vanilla, and lilacs... yes, it must be this specific flower, other flowers smell is much too strong for me, and in the spring when all the lilacs are in bloom where I live it covers up that sulfur/eggy paper mill smell
Thanks for this!

I find the smells of rain or gasoline comforting. The gasoline is because my dad worked at a gas station when I was young and I always felt safe there even as a teenager when my dad didnt work at that station I would go back to the station and take in the smells, still like the smell of gas.

It's funny you say that because I remember I used to love the smell of gasoline when I was little but nowadays it's a bit too strong for me. (my sense of smell is getting sharper as my eyes continue to go downhill?)

I like the smell of sawdust. My dad is a woodworker in his spare time and I feel safe when I know he is in his workshop playing with his tools. Somehow I know all is right with the world when he is able to be in his workshop.

I also like the smell of fresh cut grass, rain and fresh baked bread.

Smells ????? >>> fresh cut grass >> 'specially when wild onions are growing . Pull a tomato plant leaf in your fingers >> and smell your fingers . When rain is approaching >> and the smell is in the air . Standing by the ocean >> the saltiness in the breeze .Italian seasoning wafting through the house from a sauce simmering on the stove . A charcoal grill >> as burgers are searing ....

LOL >>> I realize >> I like the outdoors and the comforting smells are nature and foods ,,,,, in that order . And >>>........Apparently combined . .

- the smell of the ocean, or lake or sea.
- the smell of my dog when she sleeps.
- the smell of wild flowers on fields in the summer
- the smell of very early mornings during heatwaves.

needless to say, i'm a sentimentalist to the core.
