As much as I believe that it's all VERY much comercialised and over the top, I am dreading valentines day. It's gonna be very triggering for me.
Even hard walking up the high street because there's hearts and teddies and valentines things EVERYWHERE! Triggering to just go shopping, be glad when it's over.
Am I alone on this?

I stopped hoping a long time ago. It's just a minor annoyance now.

i have very few good memories of V.day. i actually have almost no good memories of that day. i am married and feel my spouse gives me a duty card and flowers. in high school that day was just horrible. people exchanged carnations. popular girls got up to about 2 dozen. dating couples gave each other 6-12. girls who buckled to pressure secretly agreed to send each other a couple of carnations. i refused to do that and was never dating at Vday and felt humiliated as i walked around with nothing - broadcasting my lack of popularity. high school is my definition of the words sado/masochism. the popular kids could be sadistic in their status and many of us flops felt like going to school was an exercise in masochism on days like V.day.

sorry for my rant, but i hate comercialised "holidays" that leave as many people feeling sad or hurt as they ever make feel loved. that stinks.

Another day to spend money on trinkets etc..
If ya can't show affection every day than ya better look twice at the relationship

I agree Valentine's Day is way over rated. I am hoping to get something but not holding my breath. Hey I'm still waiting for my Christmas present. I think that there should be a holiday for us single folks.

The only good memories I have of Valentine's Day are the school parties we used to have when I was very young. I went to a three room school house in the WV coalfields. We always addressed our cards to all our classmates and had a party, with cake or something like that. One year, I remember, I had run out of cards and had one student's name left, so I had this big, special card I used for him. He was like "Pigpen" in the Peanuts cartoons. This was probably around my 4th grade year.
I do recall he looked over at me in disbelief as he opened that card.

Other than that memory, Valentine's Day has never meant anything to me.

I think you have a very valid point,I have to agree with you on this.
But if anyone wants to give me a Red rose or a sweet kiss i would gladly except.
