Hi all!

I have been on Invega for 8 years now for Bipolar 2 disorder.(I also have severe anxiety and insomnia)
I do have a doc appointment in a few weeks.

I am wanting to come off this med due to the fact its causing high prolactin levels... I was wondering what the withdrawal is like?

I tried coming off of it 4 years ago and my doctor took me off of 9mg cold turkey and put me on geodon, I geuss as a replacement. That didnt work very well, I was up for 48 hours with horrible insomnia and I had to be put back on the invega.

What are your experiances weaning off of an anti psychotic? How long did the withdrawal last?

Thanks

I dropped it cold turkey. No I do not reccomend it.. I felt flu-ish for a couple weeks.

Have you asked your Doctor to give you a taper schedule? There are other meds that can be tried...

Welcome to PC

Invega was not covered by my insurance! Risperdal was a life saver. I didn't have any problems coming off invega except I had vivid dreams and peed all over myself in my sleep....

Thanks for the replies! I am going to see my doctor soon and will ask him about taking me off the invega. I defiantly am going to try something else since I probably wont do too well off medication.
