I got off lorazepam. No problem. I didn't die.
Off Effexor. Terrified at first. Probably because of all of the crap I read.
Research yes. But it's going to be ok.

Hello Ocean Swimmer. Thanks for sharing this. Over the years, I've taken myself off of med's with no problem. Most recently I had been on the maximum recommended dosage of Cymbalta. When I decided to go off of it, I sought my pdoc's recommendation for tapering off. He recommended a schedule that took me from the maximum recommended dosage down to zero over the course of two weeks. I thought this seemed very fast. But I did it & had no serious problems as a result.

I'm sure there are people who encounter problems for one reason or another. But it's certainly not a given. Thanks for sharing your success!

I did fine getting off of Effexor, I hope the same for you. I didn't get any of those bad symptoms I've read about. You may be just fine. I simply tapered per pdoc instructions. Are you doing ok?

I tapered off Zoloft a couple months ago after taking it for 20 YEARS lol. That was a little rough but went well, all things considered.

Ocean Swimmer, You're very fortunate. Everyone is different...for some people withdrawal (especially from benzos) is sheer hell - especially if the withdrawal is done too fast.

The only drug that was super hard to stop was Norco. ( opioids)
