I'm so glad this forum exists.
I've been posting my story all over the boards this week looking for some solace and hope. Last week I had a panic attack and ended up taking 1mg lorazepam from an ER visit months ago. Then took it the next 3 nights in a row because I still couldn't sleep and would be keyed up. I went all weekend without it, but with very little sleep. I took it Monday, slept like a baby. Tried going without Tuesday and gave in (figuring I was going to call my dr anyway) and after I took it I only slept a few hours. My dr (PCP) prescribed trazadone for me to sleep. It numbed my face and limbs and felt kind of nice, but I still can't sleep. My brain won't shut off and I can't fully relax. When I lay there the numbing feeling makes me feel like I'll stop breathing! anyone been through a similar experience? how much longer until I sleep again? Many people are telling me that I couldn't be addicted already, but my PCP says my body can't get calm without it. That to me, sounds like addiction. I don't want to have to take a higher dose of the trazodone, it makes me feel so weird. |

When I stopped taking my benzo, I didn't sleep at all for 2 weeks straight. I had horrific panic attacks that left me feeling like I would die. It took 3 months for me to actually be able to function let alone sleep for 6-8 hours a night. Withdrawal from benzos can actually kill you. I definitely did not know this or would have tapered off slowly. I was also on benzos 1mg 3 times a day for 1 year. Your brain needs sleep. Trazadone never worked after being on benzos for a significant amount of time. See your Dr. before coming off benzos please.
