I recently went off my Zyprexa cold turkey & replaced it with a low dose of Abilify per my doctors order. It's been about 2 weeks of doing the switch & not only have i had some unpleasant side effects (nausea, decreased appetite, interrupted sleep) i'm not sure if these are in fact side effects of the Abilify or withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Zyprexa. Thing is...i feel great. I've had more energy than usual (my diagnosis is Major Depressive Disorder with Psychotic Features) i feel focused on the tasks at hand & able to see them through to completion. I also started writing again which i was in too fragile a state to do the last time i tried. Anyone experience anything like this? Is increased energy & focus one of the upsides of Abilify?

Well the fact that there are multiple 'effects' means that it is more likely to be withdrawal. From what I understand and have experienced, side effects are more likely to be "I am constantly nauseous" or "I am less hungry" or "I don't sleep well" and not a combination of the multiple ones.

I've been on both Zyprexa and Abilify and while they both work well for me, Abilify gives me more energy while Zyprexa.can make me feel flat. Other than the increased energy,I haven't had any issues with Abilify.

I found that Zyprexa does make me drowsy but I shake it off after a couple cups of tea and it helps my mood. Abilify makes me tired if I take it during day, and I'm scared to take it at night incase I cant sleep. Have u tried Seroquel? They use it for depression in America as well as for bipolar, schizophrenia. I'm in uk

I'm in the UK. I've been on Quetiapine 300mg (Seroquel) for Hypomania and auditory hallucinations for almost a year, made me less tired than when I was on the anti-depressants Citalopram and Mirtazapine, but I still can't cope with the sedation and emotional flattening. Currently tapering to try Aripiprozole (Abilify) 10mg, increasing to 15mg is side effects are tolerable. Apparently it's bad for agitation as a side effect, have you experienced anything like that?

Ive started taking arapiprazole at night instead of morning - 10mg and no Zyprexa. Its working like a treat so far.
No agitation to report of, safe to say. Sleeping fine with just 500 quet
You could ask for procycladene to combat the edginess as it counteracts side effects. I needed it while on risperidone
