Hello and thank you for opening this thread. I'm new to ssri's and this website and just looking for information or shared experiences.

I've been taking paxil for 5 months. First 10 mg then 20 mg. This is my first experience with medication for depression. In the beggining it was great but things declined so my Dr increased the dosage. For the last month it's been really bad. So bad that I've had to medically withdraw from law school. Depression wasn't abating and suicidal thoughts have grown. My Dr has been impossible to reach and the earliest appointment with a new dr I've found isn't for a 3 more weeks.

After leaving school I moved back to my hometown so I'd have more support. During which I legitimately forgot to take 4 days worth of pills. I realized that my depression and suicidal thoughts had both mitigated and made the decision to continue without the medication. This is day 7 and I'm feeling my first symptoms (extreme dizziness and vivid dreams/nightmares).

Just based on your past experiences and knowledge does anyone have information on if I should try to continue cold turkey, taper the pills I still have, or maybe what symptoms are more serious for which I should take note?

Thanks for any information or stories!

This drug has a very short half life after 7 days if not better than your dependent now this is the downside don't torture yourself its not your fault. The doc will say you still have depression but I bet its worse than when you took the meds. sorry and this is my opinion not a medical fact

Thanks for the feedback! That seemed to be the worst/onlyou day of symptoms so I think I'm going to carry on unless something changes. I just can't believe how difficult it's been to find a doctor at such a trying time. Luckily, without the medication the suicidal thoughts have drastically decreased. So I want to continue.

Takeshi
Thanks for this!
