Hi. I stopped taking Abilify in April due to the development of tardive dyskinesia. I have not been on any mania medication since then. I take Lamictal, a mood stabilizer. It helps a lot with depression but has never done much to help with mania. I've been scooting closer and closer to mania all year, and now something has to be done.

I see my psychiatrist on Tuesday. Since I told her I will never take another antipsychotic because of the TD risk, I have a feeling she's going to want to talk about lithium. Reading about this drug scares me to death with all the talk of lots of blood work and possible kidney and thyroid damage. And the weight gain aspect scares me too.

For those of you who do take lithium, what is it like? Is it that bad? Or am I overreacting?
