Unfortunately, there are a lot of us here at PC that share in the grief of losing a mom. For those that don't know, I lost mine to lung cancer on January 3rd of this year, after a brave, valiant fight.

I do not want to be consumed with sadness this Mother's Day weekend. I know I will have my moments and that's ok, but I really want to try and get through this first Mother's Day in tact.

Soooo, I was thinking. If all of our PC mother's are gathered in one place, kinda like we are except they're sitting around a beautiful waterfall or maybe a splendid mountain top. They decide to have a party. What would your mom bring? Food? Music? Chippendales?

Mine would probably bring her teriyaki chicken wings made with bourbon of course, a fifth of whiskey to quench her thirst, and music to hully-gully by.

Yours?

(((( All the PC Moms who are no longer with us ))))

Hope you're all at peace

ORANGE Thanks!

Mine would bring the guitar and charcoal. Mom could pick anything with strings and grill way better than my step dad

Specifics please.

What "kind" of desert? What "kind" of food. What songs would she play to "get that party started"?

That will tell us a little something about your moms.

Everything from scratch...
coleslaw, concord grape jello salad, red velvet cake, chocolate cake, biscuits, possibly a pie of some kind, platter of crunchies--celery, peppers-cauliflower-etc.-pickles and olives
music? big band and she would be humming/singing along

My mom would bring her famous Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, mashed potatoes and green beans. For dessert it would be tons of Tapioca pudding and real homemade scotch shortbread. I'm sure she would have gallons of fresh Iced Tea, lemon and sugar on the side and for your listening pleasure she would bring her sweet and wonderful singing voice (along with her great sense of humor!)

Gosh my mouth is watering just thinking about all this!

Thanks mom for the most wonderful memories

My mom would bring a New England clambake.

There would be lobster, potatoes, onions, hotdogs, buckies, (that's a veal sausage), breakfast sausage, chorice, (that's a portugese sausage), and PLENTY of steamers! (that's a type of clam) in it.
Bring it ON! Our moms!
And there would be lots of cold beer, or soda. Our moms!
And to top it all off, her famous pinapple upside down cake! Our moms!

And, she would bring her guitar, or her ukelele and we'd all be singing folk songs!
Peter, Paul and Mary, James Taylor, Joan Baez, Kingston Trio... Our moms!
And we'd all be singing along. Our moms!
(That's me in the middle, LOL!)

Thanks for helping me relive some really nice memories of mom, dad and my family when we were all still together. Our moms!

Peace!

I have a confession to make sunflower55. I was born and raised in New England, a hop skip and jump from the water. My grandfather was a lobsterman after he retired. Here it comes. Are you sitting down?????

I hate fish.

But I bet when my time on Earth is done, the fish will taste like chicken.

(Not my quote. I forget who said it. Some comedian.)
Thanks for this!

Oh, Orange Blossom,
That is TOOOOOOOO funny!!! Our moms!
Sorry you don't like fish.
I can't understand that...
But, to each their own, I guess. It's what makes the world go round.

And what my own dad used to say to us when we didn't like something was.....
"More for ME!" Our moms!

Peace!

I think my Mom would bring homemade cabbage rolls and for desert the best, mouth watering peanut butter cookies (that's if there's any left) and she would be wearing one of her handmade knit sweaters. Happy mother's Day to all the mom's and cherished memories to all the daughters/son's who have lost their mom's.
Thanks Orange Blossom, so sorry about your Mom.

My Mom would be looking for partners in a good bridge game. She was a fanatical bridge player! I can barely get through a game of hearts...
