This evening my dog was put to sleep..and I didn't think I'd be as upset as I am. I can't stop crying. I know it was for the best and she's buried in the garden but i just i don't know.

I lost a dog when I was younger. It's a wretched thing for anyone to have to go through. You have a right to be upset. He was part of the family. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sending good vibes and safe hugs your way. You're dog and mine are playing together at Rainbow Ridge. Ry |

Thank you so much. I'm really at a loss, it is the only loss through death i've had to deal with and it's hard.

Sweetie, it sure is hard... especially if this is your first one. Just remember that your beloved doggy in in a better place now. I know that doesn't ease the pain, but maybe it'll put a brief smile on your face. Keiki (my dog at the Ridge) is happy to have a new playmate I'm sure. Take care sweetie. Get some rest. Again, I'm sorry.

I am sorry for your loss and I think it is perfectly normal to be as upset as you are. It was your dog, a loved member of your family. I couldnt even imagine losing my dog. I am so sorry and I'm sending love your way. |

I'm so sorry about your dog. Maybe, when you get feeling a little better, you could tell us some things about the relationship between you and your dog. We have lots of animals here, and I really know how it feels to lose a special pet and companion. Keep thinking about all the good feelings you got from your dog and the fun you had together. Carol

I am very sorry to hear this, my condolences.
I have always had dogs, grew up with them, and have 2 at the present time, it is hard to say "goodbye" to our friends. Just try to think and believe, they love us, and that love will remain in both hearts forever. Sincerely, DE (((((((((((((( jet )))))))))))

The Rainbow Bridge story
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together .... Author unknown

tears tears and more tears. I cried all through finding the poem and posting it. I went into the bedroom and kissed my dogs and hugged them and they probably thought, "I love when my Mom gets all mushy and gives us big hugs" (and dog treats)! I am afraid of the depth of my attachments to those I love. Loss is so freaking painful. Cheers, Ry

I am also currently grieving over the loss of both my Belgian and my Goldien. I lost them both in my divorce. The Golden is with the XH and the Belgian was taken back by the breeder and resold. It's heart breaking.
I am crying. A lot. And I'm giving it validity. It's a loss. A huge one. I had both since they were little tiny puppies and I was THEIR person. We were very bonded. Please, for your sake, allow yourself to grieve. It isn't silly, not at all. I am thankful that I had them both in my life, and I am thankful that I am capapble of the emotion that would love / could love such precious animals. I'm glad your puppy is burried close by, and a garden sounds like a perfect place. Are you planning to get another puppy at some point? I wish I could, but it isn't an option right now. My parents don't want another pet because we're really not massive animal lovers. I loved my dog (chloe) very much but we didn't take her for walks or play with her enough and so my parents decided it would be silly for us to get another dog. Maybe when i'm older, and live away from home i'll get another.
I'm sorry for your loss Bethanna, it's really hard. I really didnt expect it to be as hard as it was. It takes a while to get used to. I still expect my dog to be waiting behind the door when i walk in.

jba,
I haven't been in this forum much and wasn't aware you had lost your dog. ![]() The last dog I had to have put down was years ago and I can still remember the pang in my heart when I'd open the door at night after a long day at school and she wouldn't be there..............there were those few seconds where my brain didn't register she was gone and I kept waiting to hear the jingle of her tags on her collar. It does go away with time. It also helped me to talk about that wretched dog (she really was a mean animal who bit and all) until I no longer teared up each time her name was mentioned. Keep talking with those who understand the love and loss of an animal. I hope you think about getting an animal when you're older and living on your own. You have more than enough love to share and some animal will be very lucky to call you their owner. ![]() (((jetblackaura))) and dearly departed (((chloe))) |

aw gee (((jet))) there is little consolation for the loss of a pet... except another one...
I, too, believe that animals are special "sacred" to the creator, and are here just for us. When their time is up, they return to the creator... but they still love us.

Quote: ...if all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit...

Chief Seattle.
