My father in law has stage 4 cancer and is now in a palliative care hospice. My partner is very upset because they aren't controlling his pain well enough. He keeps saying it's 8/10 - the doctors should have it below 5. When she told the doctor she was ignored and the doctor just smiled and said it's under control, but it's not, and it's very difficult to see him suffer this much. He wants to die but we all want him to be more comfortable, which is the whole point of a hospice.
How can we get the doctor to listen to the family and control his pain better? Any advice on communicating with the staff? |

I would find a "professional" article and educate myself about pain management and make an appointment with the doctor to share my thoughts and questions with him.
