i know this must sound heartless, but i am stunned. my 19 yr old cat, who's sister died 2+ yrs ago of the same condition, has been missing for 2, now 3 days. i have searched the house for her, to see if she was "laid up", but without any trace. she did go in and out as she pleased. she was increasingly weak and thin the past month, and i knew her time was soon, but i really expected to be there with her, to know what happened.

this way, i am left with terrible imaginings, horrible thoughts of what could have happened to her in her weakened condition.... in my heart of hearts, i know she is gone, dead, no more... but i cannot seem to grieve.

please don't ask me to talk about this in chat... i will bring it up when i'm ready~

i know it's a small loss, compared to what is often posted here~ but i have so very little. she was literally born into my hands. we have never been apart. i still have the 2 rescues, boys, one young, one old. but she was my delicate flower.

finally, there are tears~

My heart goes out to you. I know how important our animals are to us and sometimes they are all we have to hang on to. You will grieve in you own time.

((((Gus))))

Have you called your local rescue? Maybe they have her it is worth the call. The same happened with my dog a few years back she was getting old (15 yrs I had her) She was getting sick and then run off one day and I never ever found her, I still think about her.

I hope this isn't the case for you Gus, Our pets are very special to us and you don't sound heartless and your post is not a small loss at all.

Sending you my best wishes and positive thoughts
Thanks for this!

((Gus1234U))) - I'm very sorry to hear about your elderly dear cat. You say "its a small loss" but really its not. Pet lovers like us truly love our pets and they're members of our families. I had a cat once that live to 18. I hope you find her to have some closure.

Animal companions can be just as important as human ones, or even more important in many cases.

((((gus)))) ((((kitteh))))

I am so very sorry kitteh has gone missing. It is worse not knowing what happened. Last year I had a four year old cat who was on antibiotics but she was losing weight and not getting better and when she got outside I never saw her again. It broke my heart.

Would the neighbors recognize her as your cat? Any chance someone might have taken her in to feed?

Gus, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved kitty. It is no small thing. When you lose a friend, furry or not it hurts.

Your kitty must have loved you very much to want to spare you the pain of finding her gone. She choose to go in peace where it would hurt you less. Outside, just like in kitty heaven.

Take care my dear friend. I am again so sorry. ((((Hugs)))
Thanks for this!

Gus, I am soooo sorry for your loss.
It's not a small thing, our pets are our children, beloved members of our family. I wish I had the right words to say...just know that I'm saying a prayer for you and your beloved kitteh.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's been my experience that cats have an idea when their time here is up and also that they tend to prefer solitude when it comes. I think I have an idea of how hard this is and I'm grieving with you.
