On Monday, November 3rd, it will be 6 months since I lost my best friend. My 9 yr old thoroughbred died from a rare strangling tumor that comes on suddenly, kills or decimates strong healthy horses and there is little to no survival rate. I lost everything that mattered in my life. My best friend decided she couldn't deal with my grief so she walked away. All my horse friends keep trying to get me to replace him. I've been on meds, in therapy, been a zombie so I wouldn't feel and decided I needed to feel because of how much I loved him, still love him. He was my show horse so our life revolved around a routine of lessons, clinics and horse shows up and down the east coast. He had massage therapy, acupuncture, healing energy, magnetic therapy for back and feet. He was treated the star that he was, at least to me. I find that I just stare for hours and don't even realize it. I'm lost.

I am so sorry for your loss. not only did you lose your best friend buy you lost your lifestyle as well. don't let others bully you into replacement. you need your time to grieve and you will do so in your own time. I hope you have sought out some grief counseling to help you cope. take care.
