A good friend of mine lost his father today (it was actually his foster father but it was really the only father he ever knew), so he is going through a lot right now.

You sound like a very good friend for mentioning this. I am sorry for his loss. What a terrible way to start out the new year for your friend and his family. ![]() |

I know that things are very hard for him right now, especially since he went through a lot in the last 2-3 with his father suffering a series of strokes, I just hope that he can move on from this and realize that his father is now in a better place.

It is a very complex moment for him, RTerroni, and your post here shows you are clearly concerned about him, which is in itself commendable.
My truest condolences for his loss and if I were to give any suggestion at this particular moment, I'd say that he might not admit it, but he will be in need of care, empathy, understanding. His emotions might be a little confused, so he might act differently than he would normally do, but he still needs a friend. I would advise you to be there for him whenever it is that needs you to be. And it is soothing for everyone involved to think that his father is in a better place, but right now his mind is thinking the he (your friend) is not in a good place because of his father's demise, so I reiterate what I have mentioned before. Once again, I am really truly sorry for his loss. |

His foster brother (and the biological son of the person who just died) couldn't take it and took off for Flordia where he told the family he is now staying (he will not be at the funeral on Wendnesday).
