We found out last night that my brother-in-law passed away on Thursday night in his sleep. We were one of the last ones to find out.

My husband's family is very dysfunctional - a lot of abuse happened from their parents and none of them have ever recovered from it, my husband included. None of the siblings have ever really gotten along, except for my BIL and my husband. They used to love to go fishing and talk together all the time. He died two days after his 78th birthday.

I'm concerned for my husband. Monday is the wake, and then he will be cremated afterwards. Everyone is coming, and I dread the thought of going. The pain this family has suffered is apparent when they are all together. I ask for your prayers and support during this difficult time.

Thank you.

(((Planning))) I was going to PM you before you even posted...as I felt your angst from just seeing you online. BIL passed away

Sometimes backing away emotionally...distancing during events (a form of dissociation) will help bear the situation, and let you keep a good perspective. It's tough for everyone, though, and we just all have to do our best at these times. TC.

Thanks, Sky. It has been very difficult here at home now, and understandably so. I just hope things go okay on Monday.

thanks, bebop. The wake/funeral was today and it was all very civilized, thank goodness. No one argued or fought over things and there were even a few tears.

I almost had an anxiety attack during the ceremony, but I got thru it okay without having to leave. My BIL had been part of the military, so after the ceremony, there was a gun salute outside with a man playing taps on the bugle. It turned out to be an okay day.

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone.
