how do you watch someone die?? (like a grandparent or parent)

my grandma is dying, and it's happened kinda suddenly (less than two weeks). tomorrow morning she will be moved out of the hospital and back into her nursing-home room. something called final-care - I guess to wait until the end comes!

so how do people do that - watch a loved one fade away right in front of them, not knowing how long it will be?????

You love them to the end and let them know that you love them. The hearing is the last thing to go so even if they don't seem like they know you are there, they can still hear you. Send them to a better placed wrapped in loving thoughts and with the certainty that you will be together again one day. Thank them for all the good times and memories, give them a hug. These are all the things I wish I could have done with my dad.
It's hard to watch, and will break your heart, but at some point you will be glad they are not suffering anymore. Take care of you during these times.
