He called and told me he has 2-6 months to live. I feel like im already mourning his loss. All i ever wanted was for him to be proud of me. I wanted him to walk me down the isle of my wedding. I wanted him to see me graduate college. I cry several times a day. So much i have given myself a sinus infection. If anyone has any advice on how to cope it would be greatly appricated..

It is completely natural that you are beginning to grieve the loss of your dad. Of course you are crying.
Take it hour by hour (literally). I am so, so sorry that you are going through such a traumatic loss. ![]() |

Hello, kittiekat, and welcome to Psych Central! I'm sorry about your dad.
![]() ![]() Spend as much time with him as he feels comfortable with and/or call to check on him. Give him what you would want were you in his shoes and make sure to not have any regrets about how you spend the time you have left. Talk as he is able and try to resolve any past conflicts if you can. (But don't try to force it if he is not up to it.) Hold his hand toward the end if he is too doped up to interact much. Appreciate what he has done for you in the past and tell him you love him at least once each day. |
