My Sister In Law passed away about 12:30 this after noon. She had been life flighted from Panama City Beach Florida to Pensacola Florida Sunday night unresponsive. She was one of the disabled people I was trying to help after hurricane Michael hit. She was on 24/7 oxygen, and they didn't have a car to be able to get to any of the help stations. Yesterday the hospital told my brother, and Nephew that the family needed to come. The hospital asked if they wanted CPR done if needed, and/or if they wanted the hospital to take her off life support. My brother wanted to see her, and get my Nephew there to see her before that decision was made. They were unable to get there. So I am having a very hard time just knowing that She passed alone. There wasn't any way I could afford to go. I just didn't have the funds. If I had been told a day earlier, I was told Monday evening, by then I had already payed my home taxes. If I had known Monday morning, I could have put off paying them, and I could have gown down there, and Connie wouldn't have passed alone.

She is at peace now ((katydid)). Sometimes we just can't be there for our loved ones when they pass away. My MIL went into the hospital for surgery to see what a mass was inside her and try to open up a passageway that was blocking her ability to pass bile correctly from her stomach. I did not know how serious it was and thought it was a simple procedure. She made it through surgery and the next morning when they brought her breakfast she said she felt nauseous. The nurse when to get something to help her with that and when the nurse returned my MIL had passed away. I did not get to say goodbye to her or talk to her, wish I had and she was alone when she passed to. Unfortunately, a lot of people are alone when they pass away. My MIL's heart stopped and she did not know she was dying, it was quick. And actually, I had learned that they discovered she had pancreatic cancer and the tumor was bigger than they thought too so had she lived she would have suffered and been in a lot of pain. Sometimes, a death like that is merciful in that the person doesn't have to endure a long painful death.
I am sure she knows you would have been with her if you could. |

Odd thing about death sometimes, is that sometimes our loved ones don't want us to see them take that final breath. Especially when it's been a long term illness. Please be gentle with yourself. The love going into these moments is most meaningful. |
