Saturday was 10 years since I lost my stepdad. I'm mentally disabled and live with mom and new stepdad. My late stepdad was like a dad to me. He was more of dad than my bio dad. He mixed alcohol and oxycodone one night and never woke up. He was an alcoholic with an addictive personality. We didn't know he was on pills until he passed away. Looking back there were signs. He was acting differently, but weren't sure why. It's been 10 years and I feel like I've started grieving him again.😢 Is this normal to feel like this again?

I think grieving has peaks and valleys. You feel a sense of healing for a while and then it comes back for a while. 10 years is a significant anniversary of your loss.

Hi deepurplegirl. I am so sorry for the loss of your step dad. It sounds like he was in a lot of pain.
Grief is something that people process differently. My dad died 4 years ago but it still seems like it was not long ago. There are links to many articles talking about coping with grief here that may be of interest @CANDC
