I lost my brother to suicide last year, August 26, 2019. His wife found him. I am still processing this and grieving. My Mother blames herself still constantly and I'm always supporting her. I realize this year has been hard for me due to the anniversary coming up and I am getting panic attacks. Don't want to take anymore medication, so I've been meditating a lot and it's been helping me a lot. I'm so sorry if you are dealing with this too. I miss my brother everyday and I speak to him out loud regularly. Just letting you know I'm here for you.

I am so sorry Amethyst. It’s not something a person ever really gets over but instead tries to live life despite of such a loss. I am sorry your mother is still blaming herself. Does she see a therapist for help with this?

Amethyst_Stargazer I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It must be rough for you. And guilt sounds like a big challenge for your mom.

Thank you for the links and I have talked to my Mom for her to see a therapist. I think she's going to see one because she's deeply depressed. Rather her talk to someone about it, than beat herself up everyday about it. It truly hurts me whenever she does this. I'm really worried about my Mom right now. Everyday I am always telling her how much I love her and that I care for her.

Good if she can go to a professional experienced in survivors of suicide. When you have a heart problem, go to heart specialist. Same thing applies here, but any help is better than no help. I think your mom needs attention rather than be left alone. If you have other family members and or friends that can spend time with her also, all the better.

People who are depressed tend to want to isolate which is possibly something that can get them living in their head and thoughts and not living in the reality that we choose to live in. It sounds a little cold to say it but in my own grieving I had to get to a point of seeing for myself that life goes on somehow even when a loved family member takes their own life or dies of natural causes.

Support groups can augment therapy and help until therapist is available. Google search "survivors of suicide support groups" brings up many options.

I lost my friend bethany to suicide

it was a shock for all of us, and so sudden

on the other hand she had been suffering for a while, and her doctors kept shrugging her off

killed herself on the way back to her house one night.. devistating.

Support groups are good even when receiving therapy. Therapists are not usually available after office hours except for emergencies. It's easy to feel alone in suffering. Reaching out for help is important for mental wellness.
