I could feel the grief coming back to me from when I was nine years old back when my best friend end up in a bad car accident. How do I forgive someone who cause this much grief? I should be over this person. It been several decades. I don’t know how to let go of this pain.

I’m so sorry you’re carrying such grief. I don’t feel like I can offer any helpful advice, just an acknowledgment that I see your pain and wish I could lighten the load for you.

I thought I would be okay with everything being of how long it been.

I thought that this pain would eventually heal and leave. Until I started to feel the pain hit me all over again.

@Buffy01 yes I thought it would heal but I seem to revisit it every once in a while. This video has an interesting outlook on grief

What a horrible way to lose your best friend, and at such a young age. It seems to me that the date of your friend's death may always bring up some feelings of loss and grief. Maybe try to honor that you will always need some extra self-kindness around that day.

I agree Beth that anniversaries are very difficult. I try not to get too much going around them so I can have my feelings and still get done what needs to be done.

It the anniversary of the week even though it not the month but the same holiday of when it happened. I feel like a part of me has died all over again. Every time the anniversary come up the dreams start up.

@Buffy01 sorry to hear that. Hope you can find a way to commemorate their life and all the good you two shared. Maybe that would produce a different result.

That a good idea one I didn’t think about. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the accident and Easter the day my friend passed away.
