I'm tired of grieving my parent and my best friend. I want the grief to go away. :grouphug: :sadhug:

@Buffy01 I hear you. I have not found a way to make grief go away except by focusing my attention elsewhere. Gratitude has helped me a lot. Also my biological parents were an important part of my life, but now my extended family and friends are here for me.

When dad died 6 years ago, I realized that all my hopes for a different childhood could lead nowhere now that he was gone. I gave up on those long lost hopes and it seemed to start to drop away. I was free now to live as my heart led me to live. It was a whole new beginning for me.

Im sorry about your dad. Mine died in 2002 and my mom 2009 and my brother in law in 2010. I been working on a gratitude. Maybe I am not done with this grief process yet.

Unfortunately there's no timetable for grief. It takes as long as it takes. Just when I think I've got it under control, something happens to come and smack me right in the face and I feel back to square one.

Best advice I can give is to be patient with yourself, give yourself permission to feel whatever it is you need to feel (or not, you might just be numb, and that's ok too).

It may be a cliche, but time is the best healer, and that can't be rushed.
