today marks the 5-year anniversary of my Grandma's death! and ........... yeah

i haven't talked to anyone all day. it just didn't feel right or whatever. and when my family did do a "group text" about ordinary things, it almost felt disrespectful to me. weird, i know.


i've been working on a project over the past few weeks, 'putting away' all my cards from the past years (birthday and christmas). basically just taking pictures of each one, then packing them away by year, in different boxes. just packing them away so they aren't sitting out all over the place!
i found myself drawn to one card (which was where i stopped for that day, and yet to return & finish). the card was from a lady who is like the third cousin of my Grandma's. (kinda close but not exactly distant) this lady and I exchange christmas cards with little notes inside every year, since we first talked/met years ago. (thru genealogy research)
in this particular card, the lady wrote at the end "I'll miss Irene's notes" - referring to the cards my Grandma would send to her! when I saw that, it made me cry a little. since the card was still laying out, today i made a photocopy of it so i could keep it out and see it from time to time. the reasoning seems a little meaningless almost, but maybe it's more about sentiment or whatever....

So sorry for your loss. I miss my Grandma all the time and she died 9 January 1999. In our home. Of cancer. I'm so sorry. HUGS. Kit
