I seem to have this pattern of becoming totally absorbed in some activity, subject or behaviour and losing interest in EVERYTHING else. At one point it was Shakespeare and I read all his plays; at another point it was nailpolish and I had to have every shade, texture and finish; healthy eating and exercise has become the latest... Some of these obsessions run concurrently but usually one is dominant. Building a worthwhile, independent life is just not possible: I do work but 'compulsively' spend most of what I make on current obsession - and thus find it impossible to build an independent worthwhile life. Anyone experience anything similar?
