I was diagnosed with COPD / Emphysema about 3 years ago, and I was told at that time I had 65 percent recoverable lung capacity when I use both the inhalers named Advair and Spiriva. However I have not noticed any decrease in breathing ability when I stop using the Advair. I guess perhaps the Advair is not all all it cracked up to be. Right now the money is tight so I have decided to stop using the Advair. They seem to do the same thing. Even with insurance the out of pocket is pushing 100.00 per month when I get both filled. Anyone have any ideas as to why a DR would prescribe both inhalers? I am feeling kind of anxious about dropping the Advair. Got a DR now my ans to that question no. None really qualified up here in the country.

Hi BrotherPat,
so sorry to hear about your Emphysema. Make sure you consult with a doctor first before stopping the other inhaler. Tell your doc that the money is tight, perhaps he can give you some free samples. I hope you feel better.
