I am actually excited about having surgery! today after months and months of trying to get my primary dr on board for me having gastric bypass surgery he finally agreed! I am so excited! soon to be thinner! woo hoo!

congradulations to you hope it helps you to a healthy weight. One of the doctors I used to work for has a sister who had weight issues as long as he could remember....she had gastric bp and within a months wore a swimsuit for the first time in years when the entire family visited Greece ...their parents homeland.
It made all the difference to her in the world to be just like everyone else in the family... |

thanks hey! I have been overweight for a long long time. I can't wait! I think the reason my pcp finally said yes it is all the health issues I am now having. whew!

congrats!!!! good for you!!!! i know its a long road to get approval but once the surgery is over then the results are amazing!!!
i've got a few friends who have had the surgery and most have kept up with their food plans and hard work and they look awesome....and their health improved so much. it's amazing! i could do that...but then i would miss the excitement or knocking down walls at the gym and tormenting people there...so i think i'll pass (besides i just bought all these t shirts and socks) good luck!!! think of the shopping you'll get to do!!!! stumpy

lol shopping! woo hoo! now if only I had the money! but hey I can save the money I would have spent on food. oh wait! all the supplements will take that! waaaaaaa lol
anyway medicare will be paying most of it. so not as many hoops as some go thru thank goodness. I meed all their criteria for the surgery. I have several of the co morbidities that they require. yuck!

hey, take a tape player and a music tape into the room to play to your sub-conscious if you like, this way your fresh slate isn't misinterpreting anything you can't hear.
Also, maybe you want to tape some healing statements to your gown for the surgery, so that the assistants, or surgeon or the one putting you under can tell you things like, .... your surgery is going so well, you will heal in quick time .... you will experience minimal bleeding .... the surgeon is delighted with how well this surgery is going .... you will be thirsty for ice chips afterwards (you will not be with nausea then as you can't be both) .... you will have a speedy recovery .... if these types of things, even three of them, are repeated about 5 times to you when you are going under and before coming too.. it makes a difference in our pain levels etc... many need less medications and get out of hospital earlier. There are books on this stuff, worth reading about, since you want a wonderful and smooth surgery, it's worth the new facts.. to add them in! Be well and much success!!! (((Bebop))) you know I have such mixed feelings about this surgery...but always wish a good outcome. It isn't any easier after the surgery from what I can see...but the results are available if you choose to do the work the rest of your life... (as opposed to not getting good results before the surgery
 )I truly do wish you excellent results and no complications!

I am sooooooooooooo jealous ! I have been bugging my GP for ages and all I get is sent to the dietician to follow a healthy eating plan......
