I have started getting really bad dry mouth at night. I wake up and need to drink a lot. It's not a problem during the day just at night. I'm not sure what causes it. (I'm kind of a hypochondriac and anything out of the normal really makes me anxious) I recently switched over to cymbalta and am wondering if it's maybe a side affect of that. (I take it in the morning but I have heard it releases the medicine slowly in to your body so maybe it takes a bit for effects) any thoughts?

You may wish to post this question in the Drug Questions forum. But dry mouth at night is fairly common - you're likely dehydrated and anxiety doesn't help saliva production either. Also, with the weather in the summertime, it does dehydrate you more quickly than at other times of the year.

I don't mean to sound like I'm minimizing the situation, but my mom is in the dental field and many patients describe the same thing and are just suddenly sleeping with their mouths open. I'm not saying that it is this but there is a high possibility.

My meds make my mouth really dry at night. To keep from drinking so much water, (and then having to go to the ladies room all night), I put the tip of my tongue under the where my tongue usually is. It makes saliva secrete and I can go back to sleep.
