Be forewarned, I plan to whinge and complain....

I read Christina's post below about beling sick and thought we had the same thing. Seems we don't. I started out with a head cold a couple of weeks ago. That seemed to get better then worse. I've been home since Wednesday I feel so crummy. headache, no appetite, plugged sinuses, scratchy throat, no voice or squeaky voice, cough, sneezing, body aches, swollen lymph nodes, earache, EXHAUSTED, and it hurts to breathe. Saw my primary care yesterday. She said I have a bacertial infection, viral infection and all this triggered my asthma. I'm on an anti-biotic, anti-viral med, steroids for the asthma, increased asthma meds on top of all my daily meds.

This happens any time I get a respritory infection. I'm gonna be sick for weeks. I'm already tired of being sick! I'm bored out of my skull being locked in the house. I'm too exhausted to do anything other than stare at the idiot box or surf the web.

anyone remember the Police song "Every breath you take?" I keep thinking of it because every breath I take feels like someone is sandpapering my throat and lungs - hence I wish breathing were optional.

OK, end of self-pitying post.
Thanks for this!

So sorry you're feeling so sick. It seems like everytime I get a cold it developes into sinus infection and bronchitis(have use use inhalers). Luckily thank God I haven't had one in almost a year. Try boiling about an inch of sliced ginger root in water - you could combine it with green tea. This is soothing to your stomach and throat. I also find relief by heating up those 'hot bags' that have seeds in them - put it on your chest - it loosens the mucus. I hope you feel better.

let's try this again... Lynn, I tried replying to you and my computer crashed!

Thanks Lynn. I never heard of ginger for a sore throat. Upset stomach, yes, sore throat, no. Will give it a try.

Oh yeah, you reminded me of a dx I left off the list - bronchitis.

Thanks for this!

The ginger tea may burn a little as it goes down but don't worry - also you can add some honey. I hate having bronchitis - I would imagine yours is alot worse with having asthma - hope you feel better!

Feel better!!

If it's any consolation -- the coughing I had has gone away (mostly), but I've now developed a massively bad earache which worries me so who knows, I may wind up getting sicker again. Also DID help that I was on an antibiotic for a URI at the same time so the broad spectrum antibiotic probably killed whatever bacteria decided to take up residence in my system.

BUT I could get sick again... I am at university with 25,000+ other people!!

(Which would suck since I'm ALMOST better! But if I can be empathetic at all toward you then it's worthwhile I guess. Oh and missed classes. Not so cool with being stuck at home and bored though)

You are entitled to whinge and complain hun. Considering what has happened with your Mum.

Know that the drugs will kick your illness in the head soon and that you don't have to do anything but sit and relax and sleep and watch telly.

I hope you feel better shortly.

please read with not of heavy sarcasm...
Oh sure bring up sunshine Vickie! One of my favorite cures for this sort of thing is to sit in the sun and bake it out. Tried that while on a different antibiotic last week and ended up looking like a well cooked lobster. So I'm stuck in the house looking mournfully out at the sunshine.

Yeh, I figure the stress of dealing with Mom is what set me up for this in the first place. Thanks for permission to whinge. Still feeling sorry for myself today. Feel like crud. Sick to death of watch TV. Even reading, my favorite thing to do, is getting old. Can't call friends on the phone to talk because I can't talk. I know it's only been a day since I started the meds, but it doesn't feel like they are helping yet. Ah poor me!

Ooh, be careful when you go back to classes! I swear schools are nothing but germ breeding grounds. What are you doing about missed classes? I always hated missing classes in college and having to depend on someone else's notes.

Now let me add guilt to the list of things I'm feeling. I missed almost three weeks work when Mom was dying, then afterward. Now I've missed another three days, Monday is not looking hopeful at this point. I'm feeling guilty for not being there for my clients.
Thanks for this!

You cannot control being sick dear -- thus you really have no valid reason for feeling guilty, although I can understand why you would!!

I think I'm getting sick again -- woke up feeling like crud again.

But you take care of yourself first and foremost.

Sorry you're feeling cruddy again. I'm hearing from different people that whatever this bug is it's doing that to folks. Start to feel better then worse, a little better, then worse and 'round and 'round.
Thanks for this!
