My 5 month old grandson is in open heart surgery now. It is 2 hours already, and should be about 7 hours. I haven't heard anything yet; my d. and sil didn't want anyone to go to the hospital.

This is part 2 of the surgery. He was born with a serious heart defect and was in the hospital for 7 weeks.

He's such a cute, active and adorable baby. We love him!! Please pray for his recovery. I'm scared!!! Thanks.

Hope it went well and he's out now and recovering well! My granddaughter had heart surgery a couple years ago, when she was four.

My grandson is getting better each day. He's off some of the pain med and the breathing tube. His eyes looked so sad yesterday when we visited him, and he did not smile at all, but my daughter said he's much improved today though he isn't smiling yet. Thanks for the prayers and wishes.

I'm getting just a little concerned because his blood pressure is a little too high so they are giving him medication for that. I hope it doesn't mean the surgery wasn't totally successful. I am scared and can't find anything online about it. My d. doesn't like it when I sound too worried, and my H is so negative he makes it worse! I thought everything was going well and it was, but now I'm not sure.

Perhaps it just takes a little while for everything to stabilize. Hold on tight. We'll all keep on sending good thoughts and prayers.

Recovering from major surgery does take time. Try to be patient. Feel free to ask the doctor/s questions about your concerns. Doctors typically don't mind answering questions, but some may answer a bit vaguely (puting things into statistics) which can be frustrating. It does take time for doctors to develop confidence in the prognosis though.

Deep breath ~ slow and deep ~ exhale. Stay present in this very moment. You and your grandson are in my thoughts. I hope that your grandson starts feeling better very soon! Best wishes honey.
