I hate my wound vac and having to have Home health come take care of it. Half the time I don't think the nurses know what they are doing because my doctor says they aren't supposed to overlap the skin and the nurse overlaps the skin and I know I don't like being told what to do and me being the people pleaser that I am I don't say anything. They are supposed to be certified to do the wound vac which you would think they would know what they are doing but apparently not. It is my opinion that only one of my nurses that comes knows what she is doing. I wish she could come all the time but she is going back to school to become an RN and isn't full-time. She might be now that school is out though. She came on Friday and I told her my opinion. She laughed.

I often wonder if I were to go to the wound care center if they would know what they were doing. I don't want my parents namely my mom to have to do all that driving though because I am not allowed to drive.

I am so ready for my wound vac to go away.

I guess I don't tell them because I know I don't like it when people tell me what to do. I know I need to be more assertive and need to work on this but don't know how.

Well, I think they probably want to do a good job for you. So, telling them will be helpful. Not as if you are ordering them around. Just communicating

You could just tell them that your doctor asked you to tell them that he wants to be sure the skin should is not overlapped for the best healing.

I know what you mean about not telling people when you know they are doing things wrong. I have to have my CBC checked every time I refill my clozapine and usually the lab techs will swipe my arm with an alcohol prep right before they stick me. I want to tell them that the alcohol has to set for at least sixty seconds to be effective but I know they probably would disregard me. It is annoying, huh?

I talked to my dad about it last night and asked his opinion about it.

I told him about wanting to go to the wound care clinic because I thought they might do a better job. He said that I would have to come up with a way to do it that they ,meaning my parents, wouldn't have to drive too much. He said they do a lot of running around as it is. I told him that I would be going on Monday, Wednesday and Friday's which are the days that they go to the gym. He told me to find out more information about the wound care clinic so I thought I would see if they had a website.

I thought that since they deal with wounds all day long that they might be better equipped to deal with my wound vac.
