Ever since I had my bariatric surgery I am always cold. Yesterday I had a sweatshirt on because I was cold and ran to the store to get gas and a few groceries for mom and when I stepped outside got hot and then when I got inside Walmart got cold again. I think I had a Walmart security guy following me because I was still wearing my sweatshirt and I felt like I was being followed and when I worked there we were taught that if someone looked out of place to keep an eye on them and I know I looked out of place to be wearing a sweatshirt in July in Arkansas. But when I have to go to the department I needed to go to (dairy) I always freeze to death because they have to keep it so cold.

Anyone have any ideas on how to thicken up my blood so I can warm up? I told my surgeon about how I am always cold and he told me it is because my blood is thinner after my surgery.

"Many patients notice that they feel “cold” after they begin losing weight. This is due to a change in metabolism and a loss of insulating body fat."

From: http://www.bariatricsurgerypittsburg...ects.html#cold

Maybe your body will readjust after a bit but I guess it's like having a blanket (of fat) and getting the blanket taken off.

I always run cold. & yet when it's really hot out, I sweat so bad....but the if I sit close to a fan, I end up getting so chilled. Stores are the worst, They always have the AC so cold, I cant stand it. When I go grocery shopping especially in the frozen food area, I always have to wear a sweater or jacket otherwise I am so cold & have to leave without getting what I wanted to get.

I have always run cold & it's really a miserable feeling. I really don't have a solution either....no one has offered me any ideas.

Guess it was a good thing when I was going through menopause...lol. The hot flashes would get chilled by my cold flashes.

Ah Perna, I just read your reply.....that makes sense as I have always been underweight & then when I was dealing with anorexia......I was always more cold all the time

Hey jbug, is there a possibility that you could have a thyroid problem or anemia? I know those 2 things can cause you to be cold.
