I used to get horrible headaches daily and finally went to the doctor and was diagnosed in 7th grade with Migraines and took 2 different prescriptions daily to try and reduce how often i got them. They worked well up until a year ago but they are getting more painful and frequent now. I was traveling home from Florida Thursday and by night i had a migraine that was the worst i had ever had. four days previous to this i had one that was absolutely debilitating and could do nothing but sit and cry while i was out eating with family. This one Thursday though had me in a ball sobbing uncontrollably. The pain was sooooo bad i felt like drilling a hole in my head or scratching my eyes out. My dad gets them as well and has had to go to the hospital for the injections before, he was trying to find a hospital to take me too but since we were traveling we didn't know where any were. He had morphine pills from having cancer and gave me one of them which after half an hour ended the pain. The doctor i had went to in 7th grade has now shut down. With them becoming so bad my dad is going to take me to a doctor to try and gets medication for it or something. What kind of doctor do you go for this and does anyone have anything that helps stop the pain. I also want to say if you relate to this post i am so sorry you get them as well and thanks for reading

The doctor I went to was part of a "Headache & Wellness Center." You could also go to a neurologist. Have you ever tried trigger point injections? They really helped me a bunch.
Good Luck. |

A primary care provider would refer you to a neurologist or headache specialist. I would ask your father to make an appointment with his own doctor to start with?
Here's a "migraine self-assessment" that purports to give treatment options at the end? http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/mig...adache/MI00007

![]() I now take zomig zmt. I use other stuff to help though, too (and the usual dark cold quiet room) Mine come from head trauma, and in addition from that trauma ... from tmjd. I have to have my back teeth built up every 6 weeks or so to hold my TMJs in place or the migraines are horrendous. They begin again as the build up wears off (from eating and nighttime grinding.) I would definitely have an oral surgeon or orthodontist look at your bite and jaw etc. Since your dad had them also, it could be a malformation of the jaw. It could also be allergy. So an allergist worth his/her salt would be good. Even if it's hormones, an allergist should be able to discern that. Hope you find a solution! ![]()

I've been to a neurosurgeon for some of my brain-related stuff, but that wouldn't really apply here. I talked to my GP doc and she was the one who gave me the prescription for migraine meds. It could also help maybe to see a chronic pain specialist? Perhaps there are other causes for your migraines? It was also recommended that I see a chiropractor (your spine being misaligned can cause all sorts of problems, including migraines) and/or see a massage therapist.
Migraines suck. ![]() ![]()
