i have amoxicillin here and going to take it to see if it nips it before i go to the dr. i know that's a good antibiotic for ears, so...wish me luck?

no fever or anything, so think i'm catching it early.

Ear infections are very bad, I had one about... 9 years ago and I still remember how ill it made me feel and the pain from it. I hope you have caught it early and that it does go away quickly.

I used to get them all the time as a kid. If the pain gets really bad, put a washcloth in the microwave for like 5-10 seconds (make sure it isn't scalding hot) and then put it on your ear. The heat really soothes the pain. A nurse friend had her daughter do that for me when she was babysitting and I got an ear infection.

I hope your antibiotic starts working soon.

Mash up some garlic, put it in a little folded up piece of cheesecloth & let it steep in warmed oil for about a half hour. Squeeze out as much of the garlic-infused oil as possible & put a few drops into the infected ear. (you can use mineral oil but a mild vegetable oil, like canola or sunflower oil is better because your body will absorb it)

Strong goldenseal tea (made w/distilled water is best) is pretty good for minor infections, too - and you can drink it to give your immune system a boost (but yuck!)
