My throat feels like it's not swallowing right. I do fine swallowing food and drink but my saliva feels like it does'nt go down all the way. I don't have any pain just a tight feeling. I breathe fine. I don't know if it's anxiety or what. My thyroid was a little low. This is making me anxious. I don't know if it's got anything to do w/my neck or not. It's weird cause I have the urge contract my throat if that makes sense. Any ideas?

Could be anxiety. Have you had a history of throat injury or something like croup or asthma in the family? Sometimes this can predispose one to odd spsms in the airways and things like that. I have somehing like that going on.

Good to hear from you again, sorry it sounds like you aren't feeling so well. HUGGGS

Sorry this is happening to you. Your thread will probably get moved to the Health Section -hopefully you will get more input there.

Hello, thunderbear. Maybe a visit to the doctor is appropriate?

Well, I have been looking it up online and one thing fits it to a T. It's called cricopharngeal spasm. The cricowhatever is a muscle in your throat that is supossed to relax when swallowing but when you are under stress or have anxiety or have neck problems it spasms. The only way to treat it is bezos or a muscle relaxer. I just took a flexeril if that don't help, I'm going to the doc. It's more aggravating than anything. Makes me wanna throw up. That and I don't wnt choke on my own saliva

A couple things I have heard can cause difficulty swallowing are Hashimoto's thyroiditis and nerve damage. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an auto-immune disease where the antibodies attack the thyroid. Hashi's can cause swelling of the thyroid. It is more common among women than men and people with celiac tend to get it more also. Actually, celiacs tend to get other auto-immune disease in general. Another possible cause is nerve damage due to low B-vitamins. I have difficulty swallowing sometimes myself. I started taking liquid B-12 a few years ago and it may have helped, cause I don't have that problem very often now.
