What kind of test do urologist give? Is there anything you need to do before you go?

If this is your first visit - he/she will just be gathering info from you about your problem. After listening he/she will determine what kinds of tests or treatment you need. I doubt there will be any tests on the 1st visit except a urine sample - so don't urinate just before leaving home so you'll be able to give a sample. If they do want to schedule any tests for later, the sheet they give you, should give you instructions. Good luck.

hi, roba,

I am in the same situation, after seeing my PCP yesterday, I was given a referral to a urologist. You have not described your medical problem or if you are a female/male. Being a man in my 50's, I am sure the urologist will ask for the symptoms that required the visit and, I expect, will examine my prostate which is done rectally and is very brief. Basically, they will check to determine if it is swollen which is common for men of my age and causes frequent urination but can also lead to cancer. An x-ray may also be called for as well as a physical exam of my genitals. Actually, it's no big deal. The big deal is if something wrong is found! Good luck to you!
Thanks for this!
