If your insurance will cover you seeing a registered dietician and you need to lose weight or lower cholesterol, or just generally eat healthier, I'd highly recommend seeing a dietician.
I've been very overweight my entire adult life, and recently mr Dr. read me the riot act about my cholesterol levels. So when I decided to talk to her about weight loss, she recommended weight watchers, south beach, or a dietician. I've tried weight watcher's before and it's not really for me, so I decided to try the dietician. She sent me a long questionnaire to fill out about what I liked to eat, how often I ate out, when and how much I ate, and what my goals were, then met with me and reviewed the questionnaire. Then she put together a personalized meal planner with guidelines about portion sizes, how many servings of each food group I should be eating each day and some menu suggestions. I started working with her at the beginning of Oct. and as of yesterday, I'd lost a total of 15 lbs. I still have another 45 lbs to go, but I feel a lot healthier and my energy is better, plus I'm basically eating what I want just watching portion size & number of servings. Plus I'm saving a ton of money from doing more of my own cooking. So I'd highly reccommend a dietician. --splitimage |
