at 2 am i awoke to agony, sheer hxxl in my lower back, sides and although my left side was less painful the pain kept shooting up under my shoulder blade. the pains were so bad that it started my asthma off, i 'went to the loo', passed blood from behind then projectile vomited (into my commode!). this lasted for 3 hours and it really felt like i was dying! I finally fell asleep for about 90 minutes (sheer exhaustion i think) when i awoke it was the pain that woke me again, it was not so bad as before but still uncomfortable. I fell asleep about 60 minutes later and when i awoke the pain was just about gone but all day i have felt like i have been poisoned, all yuck and tingly! I only had one small whisky diluted with around six times as much lemonade yesterday and as i cooked my own lunch i know it was not that which caused this. could this have been an allergic reaction (i had soya cream on my pudding, usually it just makes me snarkely for a day or so) or could it be a sign of chrones as i suspect i may have this too???

that sounds like it could be kidney stones but I would strongly suggest going to a dr or emergency room asap

Please see someone about this; it could be any number of things.
I was completely surprised one time by lower back pain, vomiting, diff breathing, and pain into my shoulder .. turned out to be kidney stones (some in the kidney & some lower down in the ureters causing the lower back pain) with a kidney infection and it was advanced. I had no idea before then. However there are LOTS of other things that can cause similar symptoms. Please get checked ASAP! |

Yeah, yellowted, I've had kidney stones and your description fits them pretty darn well. They are UNBELIEVABLY painful and it just goes on and on for hours. They've got new, easy ways of getting rid of them without surgery (the new method's called "lithotripsy" - check it on Wikipedia), but as bebop said, you do have to go as quickly as possible to your nearest ER (I know you call it something different over there but that's what we call it here). This probably isn't the best time in the world, weatherwise, to go to the ER in the UK, but you really do need to go. You don't want to go through that again. Take care!

Hi all, just a quick update, the yuckiness eased off by the following evening, I called my gp who said it sounds like they may have passsed normally out in my pee he is arranging for me to have a scan next week to make sure! if the pain reoccurs though i will definitely not mess about and will go straight to A&E (ER)
Thankyouy all again for your responses x |
