most people i have heard from about fasting said that you will know the fast is working if your body becomes a little ill from it...you need to eat sweet fruits and vegetables, and a gallon of water a day...which will help to flush all the toxins out of your system and actually make your body healthier in return!

Fasting isn't a good idea as it puts the body into starvation mode which in turn makes the body store the fat, so if you are doing this to lose weight, it won't work!

Ensure drinks are specifically made for people who can't take solids and have all the proteins and vitamins you need.

Is there someone you can talk to about the reasons why you are doing this? We are here listening.

I really don't think this is appropriate for an eating disorder forum. It's kind of insulting actually.

i apologize to all, working to keep and improve my bodys health no matter how much i dislike my body .
sighs my dentist said i wont be treated by him and his staff if i choose to not work with them by using the tools they give me and that i would loose my teeth if i don't kick it up a notch.so if , I go that route his license could get suspended if he treats me and things don't improve.

Or the other option is using the tools i receive to better my oral health and life an working together to protect and keep my teeth clean also healthier and for longer , so i choose the healthy option , and they had me sign a contract stating i will agree to follow home-care instructions and make use of their tools they give me an to follow through on my contract agreement. in early May , they will access my oral health if improved we would still work together to keep it improved and if not improved i would have to see a different person (dentist) .. your thoughts and comments please , im in shock so i need to let it sink in.

so i choose to be healthy

30 hours is not that bad really. You should be able to do that fine if you are in reasonably healthy condition to start. Don't plan on driving or working near machinery as you may get weak or fuzzy-headed. It would be best to stick near home and not go out just in case. If you find yourself getting very weak, then you should try eating a little something or drink a gatorade or some such sports drink. A fast is not something to be afraid of as long as you don't take it to extremes. A day or two should not be a big issue for most people. Drink plenty of water while you are fasting. Don't expect to feel totally normal as you will get weak.

I am curious why your doctor recommended a fast as treatment? Just don't over do it and you should be fine. But don't expect to get a lot of work done either.

I cannot see why you think it's appropriate to post this. You're basically asking people to support your eating disorder and help you be more 'sucessful' in it. I'm really quite shocked that this has been left here.

The facts:

You know you have an ED
You know it's against rules to ask for hints/tips
You know that fasting is dangerous for someone with an ED, and not necessary for anyone really
You know the idea that you want to make yourself healthy isn't going to be aided by fasting
Thanks for this!

You shouldn't have titled your post this way if that wasn't what you were asking for....it's always best to title your post to accurately state what you are wanting.

You know darn good & well that fasting isn't healthy for a person who is dealing with anorexia.....everything that others have told you here about fasting being bad for people who are dealing with anorexia & bulimia is right on. I'm sure it's nothing different than what you have been told by your Dr & dentist & I am also sure that in your own mind you know how wrong you are with this.
Quote:
my doctor did not prescribe the fasts i did , on my own , doc would be against me on a fast im sure
You know that fasts do not equal being healthy for a person who has anorexia since you already stated that your Dr would not approve & the fast was your idea in the first place even though you know your Dr would not approve. You know that what is causing your dental problems has to do with your purging & lack of proper nutrition in your body & only if you stop the purging & start eating a proper diet will you achieve the condition that will allow you to continue with this dentist. Yet in your mind you turn to a fast to improve your health which you know isn't healthy nor approved by your DR? So the real question is where in the world is your thinking coming from?
It sounds like you are trying to justify your NOT eating & continuing your anorexia by putting a different label on it, "fasting"....one that supposedly sounds healthy. Not sure if you are just trying to fool yourself or others around you....but it sure won't impress your dentist, nor your Dr.

You have your pdoc, your Therapist, your nutritionist & now your dentist giving you directions on what you need to do to live a healthy life....maybe you need to start listening to them & spend your energy really complying with them & stop trying to create ways around what they are telling you to do.

Only your own desire to recover will get you to that point.

Drink lots of fruit juices and maybe some protein drinks like body builders use to build lean muscle.

I honestly never got the point of fasts or "detox" diets or anything similar that is severely limited and often has weirdo mixes you have to drink or something. If you're doing it for spiritual reasons or to raise money (30 hr famine..I did it 2ce) then more power to you...but health wise it's never made sense to me. The body is pretty good at detoxing itself on a daily basis. Hence your liver and kidneys and spleen to filter and test the blood and adjust things as necessary via other pathways and other sensors and whatever. So unless you're eating sludge every day made of saturated and trans fats and pure sugar and eat no veggies or fruits or lean proteins ever then you don't need to do a detox for that reason.

An alternative is to just cut out junk foods and cut back on refined carbs and less lean cuts of meat and then go from there.
