I am suddenly getting an aching pain in my upper back, which goes away after a few minutes, it also gives me a tingling in my hands and forearms. It just happened again and got me real scared, took pain meds. Came out in a cold sweat because I was so terrified, stupid me!.
Has anyone had this or know if it is a precursor to a disease????????

Yes, I have had that on and off for many years. For me, it's swelling of the muscles that pinch the nerves and give that tingling feeling. Mine was originally caused by whiplash and I do have a touch of arthritis as well.

I wouldn't be too alarmed at it, but would definitely get to the dr for an exam. You may have moved wrong or lifted something wrong that put a strain on your back/neck, hence some swelling. Can you think of anything that could have caused it?

Wishing you well!
Thanks for this!

Not that I can think of Sabby, although I do sleep on the sofa every night...
But this is the second day now that I've had it, never had it before, and have been on the sofa for months now.
SOfa- sogood.

Maybe I'll see a doc on Monday. Too late now anyway!.
Scary though.

Take care

If you can tolerate them, you might try an anti-inflammatory / NSAID. If you have a bulging disc or other swelling that is inflammatory in nature, this could reduce reduce that and give some relief.

Even if you think you know what it is, it is a good idea to have it looked at by a medical person.

Echoes- Sorry but I have no clue whatsoever what it is. I did take extra strong pain meds (paracetamol plus caffeine)-when the last attack happened, and that seems to have done the trick. Thanks anyway.
Thanks for this!

Guess what? The pain meds took it away- but only for 40 minutes, and they are extra strong ones... I had to go out to pick up some other meds, got about 50 feet down the road and I could feel it coming on again. Said to myself 'Just ignore it. It is'nt too bad.'...then it got real bad..... arghhhhhhhhhh.
Did a quick turn-around and got home, took more meds, and headed off, after the meds kicked back in, to the big pharmacy. Pharmacist advised me to use some Ibuleve Gel (contains Ibruprofen).
Well haven't used it yet as the pain hasn't returned............
Weird.

keep a little notebook on the times when you have the tingling pain. Tingling sometimes has to do with a nerve being pinched and you don't want your nerve to be pinched. Any pain isn't good especially if it is new pain.
Maybe change the way your sitting using the computer what ever it's at I just hope it stops. Because to know someone is in pain, breaks my heart cause I would never wish any pain onto m yenemy.
You'll be in my thoughts,
nice to meet cha, I'm Crew
