I thought it might be best just to start a new post to re-visit my good ol' intestinal troubles.

The GI doc at Mayo was pointless. While the doctor I saw didn't actually do the testing, he did review the physician's results and deemed them to be accurate. Grrrr.. The GI said that everything looks normal, no abnormalities seen in large or small intestines. My esophagus looks good, so I can go off my Prevacid medication too.

Honestly, I became frustrated very quickly. I interrupted him, telling him about my frequent wake-up's to pee. My urologist said that his tests came out "normal", so to ask the GI about it. The GI doc quickly brushed me off, saying that there is no connection between the urinary tract and digestive system. He then went back to telling me to just see if things improve. Again, I interrupted to tell him that I didn't understand. He simply told me to drink lots of water, eat fruits and veggies, blah, blah. I already do that & always have!

The GI doc said that there were other tests that they could do, but he believes them to be a waste of time, at this point. If I were going to the bathroom 50 times a day, then he might be a little more concerned. Me waking 1-3 times a night to go, and going 10 times in an hour isn't that concerning to him. I am getting older ~ it isn't unsual that I am waking every 3 hours to go. WTH??

The chances of me having celiac disease are 1%.

I just wanted to scream at this moron! I am NOT going back to that guy. No freaking way!

My internal medicine doctor decided to put me onto a dosage of strong antibiotics, in case a UTI is hiding. All three tests have come out "normal", but, whatever. I feel like giving up on this completely...it is so frustrating! I still get sharp stabbing pains in my right ovary ~ for whatever reason. I do have cysts showing there, but nothing "significant".

I guess that my discomfort, depression and anger are clinically insignificant. Ridiculous!

Have you been tested for celiac? While the risk of celiac is about 1%, there are those of us out there who have it. Your primary doc can do the blood tests, you don't need a GI to do that.

I hope you find answers.

Oh shez.........I knew there were problems, but I didn't know you suffered like this. That's so terrible! You must never feel rested, and always in need of a bathroom. I don't blame you for being frustrated......beyond frustrated.......ANGRY at the doctors and the system. It has to be something!! They can't pass it off so easily. I'm so sorry this is going on with you. I wish I could wave a wand. I would make us all better! I can't do more, except send you hugs and Please post again if anything changes at all! (Or post again just to vent your anger.) Thinking of you.......always, grey
Thanks for this!

I don't recall googley.

I'll have to get copies of the records to see for myself. Something is missing ~ i just don't know what it is. Thanks for your well-wishes.

((shezbut)) - I'm sorry you're so frustrated and disappointed in the doctor. Sometimes after having kids a woman's bladder can end up not being supported enough and this causes urine to be left, even after urinating. Have you had any tests for this?

You can also try limiting fluids after dinner time and this might help with getting up at night. When you do go, make sure you completely empty your bladder - some of us are in such a hurry that we don't quite finish. Are you excessively thirsty - the next question would be have you been tested for diabetes? Excessive thirst and frequent urination is a hallmark sign. I hope it gets better for you.

Shez, Sorry to hear your frustration. (((hugs)))

But have to say that Mayo is on of the premier clinics in the US. You don't mention your age, but it really isn't uncommon to wake to pee 3 times per night once you are past age 40. And as the niece of a GI doc, I do know there is no connection between urinary tract and digestive systems. Sorry.

Also, depending upon your age, sometimes hitting the peri-menopause stage can cause some very strange pains in our bodies.

I do agree with what Lynn wrote. After we have children, those muscles just seem to turn to mush. Keegle (sp?) exercises might help.

Keep searching and researching. Sometimes that is how we find the answers to heal ourselves.
