When I sit for too long just normally not crossed legged or anything my leg will start to go numb and then when I get up I start to get pins and needles and I find it very hard to walk. Some people think it might be bad circulation, could this possible be it and should I see the doctor about it?

You should take a break from sitting every 45 minutes.

There is a test that can be done in a doctor's office to check for circulation. It's very simple and does not hurt.
You also could have some spinal difficulties -- such as a pinched nerve or a disc problem. If your circulation is okay, ask the doc for an MRI with and without contast material to see if you have any problems. I have been told by 2 different neurosurgeons NOT to go to a chiropractor. They both said that chiro's don't have the extensive training in the central nervous system as M.D.'s do -- and that one wrong push or pull could put you in a wheelchair. So I would NOT go to a chiropractor. Talk with your doctor -- he is your best source of help. God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee ![]() |

I am of the opposite opinion of chiropractors and would definitely recommend you see one. Chiropractors do actually have more extensive training regarding the CNS because that is their specialty. The techniques involved in adjusting the vertebra are precise and specific. There are in chiropractic practices, as there are in every possible application whether it be medicine or not, quality practitioners and dodgey practitioners. Chiropractic saved me a major operation on my leg 10 years ago, and I have never looked back. It also is the only thing that helps my migraines. Chiropractic has copped a lot of bad press over the years, and some of it is deserving because of the dodgey practitioners. But like I said, there are good chiropractors and the not good, just like there are good MD's and the not good. Ask around, or if you don't know anyone who sees a chiro, ring them up - most will do a free 5 min chat/explanation. This is because the chiro's too acknowledge there is a lot of bad press and want to alleviate unnecessary anxiety and give correct information so patients can make a fully informed decision if chiro is or is not for them.
From what you described, I would definitely see a chiropractor for an opinion. Good luck with your decision. kp

I would check with my Dr first. Also you may want to check your blood pressure. I have been to chiropractors with no harm but crappy results. Depending on the cause a massage therapist may be able to loosen up muscles and allow things to move back into place more naturally.
