I have no good ideas as what is wrong with me; but it's been nonstop for a week now. I haven't been able to eat a whole lot this week. I'm at best eating half of what I normally need. For some reason I'm just not hungry and I'm getting nausous real easy. Every day this week I've been in bed for 16 hrs. I've never felt this tired before, even when I was taking benzos. Then I have a constant pain in the left side of my abdomin, just this stabbing pressure that goes all the way through to my back.

I'm just glad that there wasn't anything I needed to do last week because it surely wouldn't have gotten done. This week will be a little different though.

I think you need to see a doc . . . and I'm hoping you've seen him by now.
Thanks for this!

Any pains, especially internal pains need to be checked out. I waited and my appendix burst!

I'm not feeling as bad but I'm still having problems with eating, being tired and having a dry mouth. I'm trying not sleep so much during the day because there's no way I need to sleep 14 hours a day. At least I've only bled a tiny bit only a couple of times...

I haven't been to the doctor because I don't think there will be anything they can do. Over the past couple of years I've had a number of tests done to try to find why I have so many abdominal pains but nothing was ever found, so I have little faith anything would be found and it would all be brushed off as IBS and they would give me another medication that doesn't work. I am a little worried though because if my weight keeps slipping down I'm going to have to go in for that...

Good to hear it has lessened a bit. I'm sorry to hear it has not gone away. I don't know that bleeding, nausea, and stabbing pain is necessarily associated with IBS. IBS can be extremely uncomfortable and painful but these things together can be characteristic of other things as well, and then combined with weight loss and significant fatigue, it could be indicative of something else. I would go in to get it checked out, to be safe; even if it turns out to be IBS there may be some new suggestions and something they can do to help you as things are not going well as they are now. Please consider it. Meanwhile, please take good care and hope feeling better soon.

Sounds like it could possibly be a kidney stone - I had similar issues with no appetite, pain in the abdomen radiating to the back, and exhaustion, and my doctor found a sizeable kidney stone. It sucked, but it explained the pain. Once the stone passed, I was back to myself.

Hello Seraph,
twer it me, I would journal all body sensations, mood shifts, times, sleep patterns and types of sleep, food intake and meds, sensations of head, what I have been exposed to and all such information. It is important for the doctor to get a PROPER medical history of where you are at the time. don't just lean on him/her to ask the right questions HOPING to stumble on the causal relationship. do your research as to what you did, what you had, what you took, what you felt, where you felt it and whether is was pain, discomfort, pressure, or what have you. Doctors are professions and PHD.s
not psychics.
They see you for the first time coming through the door, not watching your every move through the day saying "oh, goosh and golly, maybe you have a parasite from
eating Gibblets."
do your foot work for your doc.

Hugs,
all the best to you.

Sandworm

My best guess is that I have a gallstone or some parasite (though I don't know where I would have picked one up).

I don't know why, today I couldn't eat much and every time I did I felt sick. I'm a little mad at myself; I fell asleep in the living room in the afternoon for two hours...

I'm just not sure I'm in enough pain to justify going to the doctor; I feel like there's nothing wrong and I'm trying to justify the existence of pains that aren't really there.

I try to ignore pains as I don't like dealing with the doctors anymore, too much history, too much stuff. Sometimes I have heard there is nothing new wrong, it is due to existing conditions and hate being dismissed; even when I know the pains are real but different, and then I get to where I ignore it not wanting to go through this condescension. By putting it off, sometimes it has put my health at greater risk. The last time turned out to be my gall bladder and this last time it was a kidney stone/infection ( and initially figured it was my IBS). Always better to get checked, attitudes and fears aside. It could be something simple but if can afford to get checked, it at least will ease your mind and there might actually be some help. You do not have to suffer, and even if it is IBS, there may be new information to help. No matter what you decide, I do hope you are feeling better really soon!!!!!

Your situation is serious enough to warrant seeing a doctor. I'm a hypochondriac and sometimes I have gone for nothing more than a muscle strain.

Well, I went to the doctor yesterday (Friday). I really don't know why I even bothered; they won't do anything. I had some tests done a couple of years ago for reasons similar to why I went in this time, and nothing was found, so they won't order the tests again. I feel like I was just brushed off, like I'm a hypochondriac and it's all in my head when I know it's real pain I'm feeling. Unintentional weight loss is not something that's in my head and I don't exactly have a lot of weight to lose. I'm more frustrated now. It's like it's not worth looking at unless it puts me in the hospital or something.

Have you and/or your doc discussed endometriosis? I have been dealing with it for many, many years (technically since puberty though I wasn't dx'd until 24), and I can tell you that there are some pretty strange symptoms that a person would not think are part of it, but can be. For example, I read through your thread and the only thing you have said that I can't say I have had is the dry mouth.

I don't want to be too graphic, but I'll just let you know that endometriosis can affect male or female and can be in some strange places, causing some strange bleeding. If you want to know more, feel free to pm me...however, I will be a bit slowish to answer due to a summer science course!

I am SO sorry to hear they did not listen. I would seriously consider seeing someone else if my doc is not listening. If the treatment is not helping, still have the same symptoms, and nothing is happening to explore other options, I would get another opinion from another doc.

I've been dismissed before and know that getting another set of eyes on the situation can make a world of difference in helping or with other treatment options, even if the next one concludes it is the same illness as originally diagnosed. Pain and the other symptoms are not normal and you should not have to deal with that without help. Your health is too important. Please consider seeing someone else.

It's just frustrating to be looking for a diagnosis and everyone seems to give up.
I think there is a problem with the nerves that control my intestines; there just isn't much movement.
