Ok so I am getting a bit frustrated. I have had 3 yeast infections in the past 6 monts, 2 of which have been in the last month. I am on number 3 now, and am debating going in to doctor, even though I am reasonably certian that being on antibiotics is the reason for the current infection. I can't take otc meds so I am very uncomfortable....anyone have any sugestions on what to do? I am thinking about calling dr who prescribed the antibiotics to see if he would call in a rx, just so I don't have to go in to the dr. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dar

There are no cures but from a doc its a pill called Diflucan and you may keep getting these infections if you are running high blood sugars..sorry but a doc is needed

I agree with sleeps. I have been having severe pain in my vagina the past few days so I feel for you. If you're having many yeast infections it could be a sign of diabetes. It's best to get it checked out ASAP (as much as it stinks to be in that uncomfortable situation)

hey.

is that like thrush? i think it is... yeah, every time i take antibiotics i get a dose of that. in fact every time i get a prescription for antibiotics i ask for some treatment for thrush too so i don't have to go back to the dr...

do you eat a lot of cheese?

i think that has an affect on mine...
also...
wearing tight jeans...
(a little air every now and then seems to help lol)

over here... (new zealand) you can get pessaries (that is not the correct spelling but anyway) and cream from the chemist without a prescription - but i don't know the case over where you are. it might be worth asking your chemist.

i have heard conflicting opinions regarding yoghurt (the natural unsweetened variety). i have heard some people say that if you put yoghurt where the infection is then the natural goodies in the yoghurt help fight the infection (but then i have heard other people say not to do that so i haven't done this but other people might know more about it...)

it can be really very uncomfortable :-(

sometimes it will get better by itself (i think it has to do with the ph balance which can vary at times)

othertimes (especially if you start scratching) it just seems to get worse and can get really very painful :-(

ps... i've heard eating the yoghurt (other end) is great for you too :-)

this link seems fairly good:

http://www.womhealth.org.au/factsheets/thrush.htm

hmm... maybe the cheese cures via wishful thinking? dunno... still, seems to work for me...

there was something there about 'preventative treatment' for people who have a recurrent problem...

also about maybe taking tablets just incase the origin is in the colon or intestines or wherever in which case localised treatment would only get rid of the symptom for a time...

and...

it talks about a couple of other things which are similar (could be one of those spazkatt)

i had one of those once... only found out because the over the counter med didn't work. broad spectrum antibiolic did it though (and i didn't get thrush that time lol)

the pill that someone mentioned that starts with a d worked for me last time. i'd had every treatment in book and finally asked for that. they also give it to aids patients for thrush. it totally worked and i am not itch free.whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
