I recently got a touchup on a tattoo of two swallow birds that I got. When I originally got it, I had a reaction of some raised, red, painful bumps. A few days ago I noticed that it had not only come back after the touchup, but it was a lot worse. Now there is pus coming from it, raised bumps that look like pimples, it is making it hard for me to walk because of the pain in my leg, and it is swollen.
I'm going to a doctor today at 3:45, so I hope to get some help there, but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar reaction? The tattoo place that I went to was totally sterile and I don't blame them. The artist said that it is probably an allergic reaction to the red ink that was used. Hopefully this will clear up and we can find an alternative, because the reaction is really messing up my tattoo. ![]() |

If you have pus coming from the area, it is clearly an infection! You can get infections in a hospital, so just because it was "sterile" doesn't make much difference.
If I were you, I wouldn't get any more tattoos. If indeed you did have a reaction, the next time could be worse. Best of luck & God bless. Hugs, Lee ![]() |

Sounds like an infection as well............sorry that happened but with antibiotics it should go away.....lots of bad bugs out there though so you have to be careful

I went to the emergency room today and they told me that it's a staph infection. Hopefully the antibiotics they prescribed will help me.

That's pretty scary! I know a couple people who have had reactions to specific inks and had a really hard time as their body rejected them. Hopefully the antibiotics will clear this right up, and the reaction is not to the ink.
I recommend that you inform the tattooist about the infection. It's important that they know in case it did come from them, if they are passing it on to other people, and so that they can be extra careful in the future. Best of luck, heal fast!

I just got home from the hospital yesterday... I guess it was pretty bad. I did talk to the tattoo artist, but I'm still not blaming him for this. I think it was just a bad coincidence..
