I've been waiting for this appointment since August 12th. I am a single mom and my work has figured out a way to delay my benefits for another 3 months. I have no money for doctors and no money for medical. So I found a place that has all retired doctors. They have a clinic for free and I qualify with my income. He's just a regular doctor. This appointment is because I had a grand mal seizure back in August and it's a follow up for my ER visit. It's been some of the hardest months of my life waiting for this apointment and now it's only 6 days away. I have to be prepared. I don't know what to say. Let me give just a little more history.

In August I was under a great deal of stress and had a seizure. Something I had never done before. 2 years prior to that I fainted and stopped breathing for nearly 3 minutes when I was under a great deal of stress. They start the same as my DID I get light headed and feel like I'm being pulled away from my surroundings and everything goes black. Then I come to with everyone standing over me freaking out or people telling me some off the wall things I did. They are all when I'm under a lot of stress. I have the reason for the normal blackouts but the fainting and the seizure have to be connected and it seems the stress is taking a physical toll on me. The reason for seeing this doc now. I need help.

I don't know exactly what to tell him. I don't know what to ask him and I don't know where to start. I don't even know if he will believe me or even be able to help me... This is so new... I've never heard of something quite like this before and I'm worried he wont believe or wont know how to understand what's going on. I don't know how to tell him it's all in my head... Any advice or anything at all?

Hello, PurpleFlyingMonkeys. My suggestion is to print a copy of your post for your doctor.

The doctor is going to try to rule out all physiological causes for the seizures so will want specific information related to that. Then if he can't find anything physical will refer to a pdoc for possible mental causes. So maybe the seizures have a physical cause, people don't remember what happens during a grand mal.

Hello Purple Flying Monkeys!
I sense the anxiety underlying your words. Take heart dear and hang in there. Nothing is gained by fretting. Things will happen only in the fulness of time. Go to your appointment with courage and faith in yourself. Persevere and see...
Peace & Joy!
