I got my inital paperwork done for disability...I have the authorization papers as well as the ones for others to fill out about me. Family or people who know me and can say how long they've seen my disability affecting me.

The longer term disability is Schizo Affective Disorder, so it's the main focus...but we're mentioning the RA as well.

Wish me luck, if I get it, it will be $358 a month...not alot but alot more than I make now SS-Di Any income would be helpful to me, I wouldn't feel as useless, which is why I decided to apply for it. =)

BP I applied for disablity about 2 years ago and got it without having to appeal or anything. I have it for BPD, Depression and asthma. It's mainly for the mental stuff. Good Luck!

Thank you {{{{{Jannie}}}}}

I've been stalling on putting in the last few papers I was told I needed. And been looking and thinking of working. I really don't know if I could handle it, but going on disability just seems like giving up to me. SS-Di I just am not sure.... =(

Being on SSDI does not mean you can never work again. It just means you are not capable of holding down a full time 40-50 hour a week job that will keep you in housing and food and bills paid too.

You can still work and get SSDI at the same time - In the past while on SSDI I did part time secretarial and janitorial work. I also did and am presently on and off doing daycare work and recieve an SSDI grant. what happens is -

you let social security know that you are working and then submit your pay stubs or a copy of the check you recieve from work to your caseworker.

While on SSDI you are able to make here in this state up to $75.00 - $100.00 a month without having your SSDI grant deducted or stopped.

Over $75.00 -$100.00 Depending on how much you make each month depends on if they deduct that amount fron the next months grant or cut you off it for the next month.

So basically on the months you work make sure you put aside some of the money to go towards the next month when your SSDI grant will be lowered or not gotten for that next month. That way if some or all get deducted from the next months SSDI grant you can still pay yout bills.

After toy have been accepted for SSDI and have been assigned a caseworker that caseworker will be able to explain to you how the monthly mailers (meaning those that work and get grants have to submit working info each month) as its called here works.
