Has anyone heard of this? For about the last six weeks the backs of my thighs have been breaking out in hives at night when I go to bed. It never happens any other time like in the afternoons when I take a nap. Just at night.
At first, Benadryl cream worked but now it's not. It wouldn't take long for the itching to stop and the rash go away. Tonight is a different story. I had to get out of bed and as long as I sit in my wheelchair, everything is fine. When I went back to bed, I was able to sleep for about three hours and the itching woke me up again. So... here I sit and the itching is pretty much gone without Benadryl. I'm thinking it's either emotional because I've been under stress because of my husband... or it's from sitting on the rubber seat of my wheelchair after so many hours. Anybody here ever have this happen to them? Did you find relief and what worked? ![]() |

Weird! I found this site informative: http://www.everydayhealth.com/specia...ves/index.aspx
I had hives every evening for awhile but it turned out to be my cat; he'd been an outdoor cat but got old/not feeling well so would sit on my lap. What are you doing an hour or so before you go to bed? Anything changed there? Did you try going to bed at different times to see if it shows up the same time or in the same circumstances?

It could be delayed pressure urticaria, after a long day in your wheelchair and into bed. Another possibility could be the detergent used when washing bedding. DPU makes a little more sense to me though. http://www.chronichives.com http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/chronic-hives/DS00980 http://dermatology.about.com/cs/hives/a/pressurt.htm
