My gastro doctor resently sent me for a CT scan. They found a calcified mass and thought it was a fibrold in my uterus. Yesterday I went to the gyno doctor and he sat down with me after my exam and said it;s not in my uterus and that the CT report say's it's a calcified mass either on or near my overy or my urinary track. Tomorrow I'm going for an ultrasound at the hospital so they can look at it better and compare it to the CT scan.

I've tried to find information on what a calcified mass really is. But what I find on the internet just really confuses me even more. I was so nervous and scared being at a new gyno doctor I didn't think about asking him to explain it until hours later. The gyno doctor also took a culture??? If anyone can explain a little bit to me what a calcified mass is, it could really help me.

Thanks, Monty

Mass is a quantity of material. Calcified is Organic tissue (Organ cells) that becomes hardened by the build up of lime and calcium salts (chemicals contained in the body and also are gotten through food intake)

So basically you have a lot calcium and lime chemicals that have found a place to build up and harden.

Kind of like a kidney stone - (calcium and lime hardened into a small pebble or stone in the kidneys) only for you this is on or near your overies.

So like kidney stones you will either be given medication and hope it desolves and or passes ( if its in the ovarian ducts or fallopian tubes and mobile it will move down the tube and out through your normal period cylces) or they will do surgery to remove it for you if it is attached to the organs.
