Compared to other problems posted here it seems trivial but what happened was unnerving.
I was sitting on my bed last night when I felt a sensation of falling. It felt like the ground opened up and I fell...plummeted is more like it. I felt the jolt when I landed. Felt it in my head that is. No sensations of the rest of my body crashing...just my head. It was so real that I put out my hands to break my fall and then looked down to see where I'd landed. I was still sitting on the bed ![]() |

Maybe you dozed off? I had a dream like that I complained about to my therapist, where I was in an empty airplane bay and the plane tilted sideways and we all went that direction and all the luggage, etc. was falling on top of me and really really pi&*ed me off :-) I had no control.
You weren't doing any climbing up/down during the day were you? When I do any hill climbing I jerk going to sleep, keeping myself from falling (like when one walks down a hill). Any too many steps or anything?

Good guess but I was wide awake. Still am unfortunately. I had a couple more that were similar...like leaning instead of falling. No jolts felt in those. I'm not one to catastrophize about health. Probably random unexplainable sensations...or sleep deprivation

Could be your ears, eyes, just about anything:
http://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/bala...disorders.aspx I had Meniere's (fall over, throw up, have to sleep for 3 hours) and it had milder symptoms sometimes and/or weird tests they put me through.

Not trivial at all, to me.
I've had dizzy spells myself. that were not explained. I've had all kinds of flukes happen. And then they stop. Once I was sitting in a chair and I saw the room spin wildly around. Another time I was walking and it felt like my legs were not there and I nearly fell. Scary. Billi

I realize this is an older thread but I felt the need to share. I have these sensations all the time and have for many years. It was explained to me that when I dealt with past traumatic events I separated my mind from my body in order to avoid the pain. Also, had a therapist tell me that out of body experiences are not uncommon for survivors of trauma. When I experience the falling sensation it is like a mini flashback.
Also, if everything is relative then nothing is trivial. Thanks for the opportunity to share. |
